1.DISTRIBUTION OF JACKFRUIT SAPLINGS

In connection with Environmental Day Which is celebrated on 5th June,  physics association distributed Jackfruit saplings to students of 2nd and 3rd year BSc Physics students.

2.SEMINAR ON “SHAPING THE FUTURE WITH LASER SCIENCE

On 23rd June 2023 department of Physics conducted a seminar on “Shaping the Future with Laser Science “ explored how laser technology is revolutionizing various fields like medicine,communications,manufacturing and more.The session was led by Dr Santhi A ,Assistant Professor, St Teresa’s college, Ernakulam.It highlighted the potential for advancements in research,innovation and practical applications.It also talks about various career opportunities in the field of Laser.

3.ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION AND MERIT DAY

The inauguration of Physics association was held on 12th July 2023. The Association activities were inaugurated by Dr Praveen Sakalya  Head,Department of Physics,St Thomas College, Kozhencherry.Former Project Scientist National Centre for Coastal Research, Govt.of India.There were awards given for former students who achieved excellent marks.

The department of Physics In association with IQAC and NSS conducted  a interactive talk session on “ Science Behind Disasters-For prediction,mitigation and warning” shared valuable insights on the causes, mechanisms and impact of various natural disasters like earthquakes,hurricanes,and tsunamis.

      The session aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the design and capabilities of the Titan Submarine. It was a very informative session.

4.CHANDRAYAAN-3 LAUNCH LIVE

On July 14 2023 Dept. Of Physics collaborated with IQAC Conducted Chandryaan-3 Launch live. India’s third moon mission,Chandrayaan 3 was successful launched at 2:35pm on 14 July from Satish Dawan Space Centre. To witness this Dept make arrangement for the livestream of the launch.

5.AWARENESS PROGRAM ON NUCLEAR DISASTERS

Department of Physics in association with Nss & Quiz club conducted a quiz as part of the remembrance of Hiroshima-Nagasaki day through online on 9/8/23.

6.CURRICULUM ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

On 11th August 2023 Dept. Of Physics in collaboration with Nss with in the canvas of Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Conducted a workshop on‘Magical realm of Vedic Mathematics ‘ led by P Devraj Director,Cosmic math foundation & certified Master trainer skill India.It focused the techniques and shortcuts to solve mathematical problems quickly and efficiently.Through interactive sessions, participants got a taste of how Vedic maths can simplify complex calculations.

        The goal was to enhance participants calculation skills and problem solving abilities.

7.CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

On 10th Aug 2023 Physics department collaborated with CCEK,Career guidance and placement cell,Nss & IQAC Conducted a Job profiling Workshop.The session was led by Vishnu Lona , Career Coach. A total of  250 students participated in the Session.He motivated the students to understand  the fundamentals of every subject so that after completion of their course it become easy for them to choose a specific field.He even told the students about resume making and the interview tackling techniques.Students have given the feedback to organize such events to get more exposure to present requirements.

8.SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

On 14 Aug 2023 Conducted a skill development program to familiarize the equipments in lab. It was  very informative. The session highlights the working of CRO.

9.ALUMNI MEET

Department of Physics conducted ‘ALUMNI MEET’ on 15 Aug 2023 through Google meet platform. Around 100 people joined the meet and interacted with the teachers and students.Different passed out batch students shared their experience and memories. It was a very good session.

10.ENTREUPRENURESHIP ENCHANCEMENT

Department of Physics conducted a workshop for the students for the familiarization of Arduino. The workshop was led by Er.Jittu George Eapen,Ex-Embedded Engineer Debri Foundation, Bangalore.Arduino is an open-source electronics Platform that allows you to create interactive projects.You can use it to build robots,sensors etc…

11. CHANDRYAAN-3 LANDING IN THE MOON

Department of Physics organized live streaming of Chandryaan-3 landing in the moon on 23rd Aug 2023 for the students   to witness the momentous occasion.

12.ALUMNUS INTERACTION

 Physics Alumni Sreejith B  got placement as sub inspector in CRPF.He interacted with the students and gave career guidance regarding placements.He also explained the students how they should prepare for aptitude and technical interviews. Alumni and students had a very good interactive session.

13. ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT

The seminar on ‘Astrophysics of Galaxies’ talks about the latest advancements and discoveries in the field.It explored their formation,evolution and various properties.The session was led by Dr.Sreeja S Kartha,Assistant Professor,Department of Physics, Christ University,Bangalore.The Seminar triggered the thoughts of listeners regarding the evolution of the universe.

14. SEMINAR ON”ASTROPHYSICS-FROM BASE TO THE STATE OF THE ART

The seminar on “Astrophysics from base to the state of the art” explored the evolution of Galaxies to the study of dark matter and black holes. The session was led by Vishnu Vasudev Asst.professor College of Applied science, Chengannur.The seminar also included a discussion about our very own galaxy, Milkyway. It also covered the captivating topic of star formation.It was a very mind blowing session.It also discussed the important role of telescope in advancing our understanding about the universe.

15.CLASS ON NOBEL PRIZE WINNING WORK

The Department of Physics has organized a webinar on ‘ Attosecond pulses and Electron dynamics’ on 17th Oct 2023 through the Google meet platform.The lecture was given by Dr. Riju Issac,Associate  professor,Department of Physics,CUSAT. THE 2023 Nobel Prize in physics was awarded jointly to Pierre Agostini Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Huiller for experimental methods that generate Attosecond pulses for the study of electron dynamics in matter.

      Prof. Dr Riju Issac delivered a lecture on the topic “ Attosecond pulses and Electron dynamics”. He said that they have demonstrated a way to create extremely short pulses of light that can be used to measure the rapid processes in which electrons move or change energy.Participants gathered much knowledge from the webinar.

16.OBSERVATION OF ENERGY CONSERVATION DAY

In connection with the National Energy Conservation Day,Physics department conducted a seminar on the topic “SUSTAINABLE CLEAN ENERGY”. The session was led by Dr. Jayakrishnan R ,Associate professor, Director of Astronomical Observatory,University of Kerala,Thiruvananthapuram. The seminar highlighted various aspects of energy conservation and its significance. The seminar also touched upon the issue of lead pollution.

17.INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Department of Physics had Organized an industrial visit in association with Bhoomitrasena club and Nss on 19th Dec 2023 at MITHRADHAM RENEWAL ENERGY CENTRE Located at Aluva Kerala.This visit was organized with the prior permission of Nishitha P Mathew HOD – Physics department. Mithradham is India’s first completely renewable energy powered institution. This visit focused on encouraging  students towards usage of renewable energy sources.

  • Gained knowledge about bee keeping and equipments needed for bee keeping.
  • Students realized the need of renewable energy sources.
  • Different set up and type of Solar panels and methods of generation were demonstrated to the students.

This visit helped them gained knowledge about different solar panels and methods of generation.This visit further built an interest in students to know more about renewable energy sources and research in this sector.

18.EXHIBITION

On 4th Jan 2024 Department of Physics KG college pampady in association with Breakthrough Society, Kottayam Chapter become a part of the Exhibition Conducted in Jerusalem Mount School,Vakathanam. 2nd and 3rd year Students got opportunity to share their knowledge about various things to the High school students.

19.QUIZ COMPETITON

Department of Physics collaborated with Quiz club conducted a interdepartmental quiz competition as part of the birth anniversary of Stephen Hawking.The quiz Consisted of two rounds.

20.PRESENTATION ON ADITYA-L1

As part of the outreach programmes of GSFK, BREAKTHROUGH SCIENCE SOCIETY, KOTTAYAM CHAPTER IN ASSOCIATION WITH Dept.of Physics, KG COLLEGE ,PAMPADY made a presentation on Aditya L1 On 17th Jan 2024.Student Volunteers Fathima , Manjima and Bilha From KG College Pampady rendered a lecture on Aditya-L1 at St Joseph Convent School and M.T Seminary School Kottayam.Medha Surendranath,BSS Volunteer introduced Global science festival, Kerala.

On 18th Jan 2024, Student Volunteers Fathima and Bilha From dept. Of Physics made a presentation on Aditya -L1 at St. Thomas School,Puthenangadi.P.N Thankachan from BSS also participated.

21.ALUMNI TALK

Physics Alumni Ms Chanchal Liz delivered a talk about How to Crack federal  Bank PO Test and interviews on 23rd Feb 2024.

22. SCIENCE AWARENESS

On 29th Feb 2024 Department of Physics in association with Breakthrough Science society, Kottayam Chapter,NSS,SSP and IQAC conducted a sunspot observation using a telescope with solar filter.The students observed the sun during midday.Sunspots are dark spots that appear on the surface of the sun.They are cooler than the surrounding areas and are caused by intense magnetic activity. Everyone carefully observed the sun’s surface and noticed the presence of dark spots, known as sunspots.The observation provided the students with a deeper understanding of the sun’s behavior and its impact on our environment.

  • Shiya siby and Alan Biji Philip of D1 Physics  won Second prize in Kargil War quiz.
  • Fathima Nourin A of D2 physics and Ashin Ashok of D3 Physics won second prize in interdepartmental quiz competition conducted by Research and post graduate department of commerce on 23rd Aug 2023.
  • Shiya Siby and  Shibin of D1 Physics won Third prize in Quit India Moment Quiz.
  • Alan Biji Philip of D1 Physics has qualified to be an Internal Auditor on 21st Nov 2023.
  • Fathima Nourin A of D2 physics won Kalathilakam of Samanvaya 2023 ,KG College Pampady.
  • Alan Biji Philip & Shiya Siby of D1 Physics won Second prize in Nature Conservation Quiz Conducted by Dept. Of Zoology in collaborated with Quiz club , Bhoomitrasena club and Nss on 8th Aug 2023.

  • Bilha S Santhosh of D2 physics Secured Second prize in English poem writing and elocution English.
  • Manjima Raj of D2 physics secured second prize in Hindi Essay Writing and first in Group song.
  • Fathima Nourin A of D2 physics Secured First in Mappilappattu,Cartooning and Group song.Second in English story writing and Third in Malayalam story writing.
  • Alan Biji Philip of D1 Physics secured second prize in Mappilappattu.

PARTICIPATION
