4. Industry visit to Toms Pipes, organized by CFSC
An orientation program was conducted by CFSC following the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with our college. The program aimed to familiarize key stakeholders with the terms of the collaboration and foster a shared understanding of mutual expectations. A comprehensive overview of the MOU was presented, covering its key components, objectives, and the scope of collaboration. This ensured that all attendees had a clear understanding of the agreed-upon terms. The goals and objectives of the collaboration were emphasized, emphasizing how the partnership would benefit both the industry and our college, fostering a spirit of cooperation. Exciting opportunities for students were presented, including internships, projects, and mentorship programs. The industry expressed its commitment to providing avenues for career development and job placement. Mr Jayafar T, Technical Officer, CFSC addressed the gathering on 4th July 2022.
Final year degree students of our department participated in an internship organized by CFSC as a part of the MOU from 5th July 2022 to 12th July 2022. They engaged in various polymer processing, moulding and testing processes. They also have a hands-on training on the production various rubber products like gloves, table mat, Balloon etc.
As part of the MOU, final year degree students of our department conducted their project work in CFSC on the Month of March 2022. The Polymer Science project conducted by degree students at the CFSC (Centre for Financial Support and Construction), a government institution in Kerala, aimed to explore various aspects of polymer science and its applications. The project provided students with an opportunity to delve into cutting-edge research in this field, fostering academic and practical skills essential for future careers in polymer science and related industries. The project yielded valuable insights into the properties and applications of polymers. Students successfully synthesized polymers with desired characteristics and gained practical experience in advanced analytical techniques. Application studies highlighted the versatility of polymers in addressing industry-specific challenges, and the environmental impact assessment shed light on the importance of sustainable practices in polymer science.
The industry visits to Toms Pipes, organized by CFSC (Centre for Financial Support and Construction) in connection with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with our college on 12th July 2022, provided students with a firsthand experience of the operations and processes within the pipe manufacturing industry. This visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge acquired in classrooms and practical applications in a real-world industrial setting. The primary objective of the industry visit was to expose students to the functioning of Toms Pipes, a leading player in the pipe manufacturing sector, and to enrich their understanding of the practical aspects of the industry. The visit was aligned with the goals of the MOU to foster industry-academia collaboration, promote experiential learning, and enhance students’ employability skills.
